Organization:  Founded in 2010, the Midland Institute for Entrepreneurship (MIE) partners with communities throughout the United State to establish and maintain quality CEO programs.  Our vision is to be the standard for entrepreneurship education in the United States.  We do that by providing world class customer service, guidance and content to our CEO communities.

Job Title: Communication Specialist

For Midland Institute to be successful and take on the current and future growth, we need to be able to lead creative projects, craft visual tools, manage communication campaigns, coordinate web series and aid in testing and rolling out user experiences for all our resources and training platforms.  Both existing CEO programs and new programs will benefit from the project management of the Communication Specialist as their thoughtful coordination of creative and strategic assets and tools will aid in improving MIE's value proposition. 

This role is responsible for the flow of cohesive communications from MIE to its target audiences, including design, content production, brand management, and communication strategy.  The Communication Specialist will directly support Program Developers, Engagement Team and MIE Philanthropy through internal and external communications to maintain and increase visibility of MIE and its programs.  

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Brand Standards– create brand standards for the organization and ensure quality control across all of MIE’s communication platforms
  • Organize and implement a high level of content produced and released by MIE
  • Design – create graphics/visuals/content strategy for the following, but not limited to:
  • Social Media –
  • Content Production – create and manage current and future content  
  • Web Development and Training Platforms
  • Work directly with leadership to ensure roll outs are well planned and executed, ensuring it is our best work
  • List Management
  • CEO Intern Program – manage and engage interns in valuable and meaningful work
  • Project Management – identify prioritization and manage multiple team projects at once
  • Copywriting

Qualifications/ You will excel in this role if you...

  • Are an excellent communicator, both written and verbal
  • Possess an ability to work well with a wide range of people and who may think differently than your own natural tendency/preference
  • Are able to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Have an ability and desire to learn and improve in craft
  • Are willing to take and share constructive creative feedback
  • Are self-aware of your strengths and weakness as a creative and/or strategist
  • Past experience includes roles that were collaborative in work environments and team-oriented
  • Can transition between the macro and micro needs of MIE and users. Aptitude to understand big picture and with the skill to carry a project to completion
  • Comfortable researching and finding solutions when a specific task or project stretches outside of current skill sets
  • Have experience engaging multiple target audiences on multiple social platforms (primarily Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter)
  • Demonstrate past experience working with marketing agency, developers or team for a website launch
  • Accurately define, understand, and prioritize the needs of the target audience.
  • Are familiar with editing software
  • Are proficient with Mailchimp and other social media management platforms
  • Able to collect, analyze and prioritize feedback from users and trainees on all MIE platforms
    Be prepared to provide a portfolio of the best design, photography, video, written copy, and projects that you've created/led.
